The December Witches - Jennifer Claessen

Synopsis

December is Clemmie Merlyn’s favourite month as it usually begins with birthday cake and gifts. But as she turns thirteen, it begins with a bang: Clemmie, and Clemmie alone amongst all witches, is full of magic. So full of magic she might not make it to the end of the month. As the snow spirals down, anxious Clemmie and the young hags will have to find some way to stop her exploding.

Because someone, or something, has chosen Clemmie and made her their One True Witch. But magic is meant to be shared and no-one can survive being filled to the brim with starry power. Can the Merlyn and Morgan covens finally take on the ancient twisted magic of their ancestors? And can they do it in time for Christmas?

This is a brilliant conclusion to this fantastic series of books, and I'm thrilled to share this guest post from author, Jennifer, about a craft activity you can try for yourselves!

Gingerbread card making.

To celebrate the release of the December Witches, I am hosting ‘Christmas Crafternoons’ at some lovely bookshops and we’ll be making two different types of Christmas card!

The first is this super simple gingerbread house style card that you can decorate as much or as little as you like.

Step 1. Find the centre of your piece of card or paper.

Step 2. Fold your card inwards from the edges, a bit like making wardrobe doors!

Step 3. Trim yourself a rough roof shape – I go for something like an soft-tipped triangle!

Step 4. Decorate! The photo here shows a simple white and pink doodle design but you can add as many sparkles and as much paint as you like.

Step 5. Inside you can write a Christmas message – or a short story or even recipe of your own!
