Pippa Newton loves nature and being outdoors, and she’s looking forward to visiting her grandfather in his cottage in the forest. If only her older brother was as enthusiastic about it as she is.
But their holiday soon turns into a dark and strange adventure when Pippa realises that malevolent forces are lurking in the trees – forces that watch, wait, and mean them great harm.
Why are twig-woven figures appearing all over the cottage? And why does their grandfather seem so afraid all the time? What secrets linger in Whispering Hollow? And will Pippa be able to rekindle her friendship with her brother?
Blog tour review:
All good spooky forest-based stories start with someone disobeying a guardian's warning or forbidden action, don't they!?
So when Pippa's grandfather is acting strangely and tells her not to be mature out, does she listen? Of course not! And what ensues is a suitable creepy and menacing thriller, with the sinister twig men and a menacing atmosphere perfect for these darker nights and Halloween!
I loved the links to local folklore through the Cornish setting of this tale, and the sibling pairing of Pippa and her brother Jed, and thoroughly enjoyed this creepy novel...recommended for y6+
